The Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended three individuals for attempting to smuggle hard drugs concealed within a loaf of bread to a detainee.
Spokesperson for the State’s Police Command, ASP Mansir Hassan, who revealed this identified the suspects as John Solomon, 38; Kunle Oluwale, 45; and James Daniel Baba, 45, all from Sabon Wuse, Abuja.
They were detained at the charge room of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Kaduna.
State’s Commissioner of Police, Audu Ali Dabigi, urged officers to maintain heightened vigilance to prevent such incidents.
The suspects were discovered with a Bomtel handset and an unspecified quantity of drugs hidden in the bread.
“They attempted to persuade the Charge Room Officer (CRO) to deliver the loaf of bread to one Gideon Amao, a suspect currently under investigation by the SCID.
“Photographs of the suspects and the recovered items have been taken. The investigation is ongoing, and further developments will be communicated in due course.
“The Commissioner of Police CP Audu Ali Dabigi psc, warn Officers to stay vigilant and observant in order to avoid any unfortunate incidences from happening,” the police spokespsrson said.
