The coup in Niger Republic seems to be taking a different turn, with the launching of an anti-coup movement, by a formal rebel leader in the country, Rhissa Ag Boula.
According to the VOA, Boula in a statement said the group, the Council of the Resistance for the Republic, was established solely, to reinstate the ousted President of the country, Mohamed Bazoum, back to his office, as President of the Niger Republic.
It was earlier reported by that Bazoum was released by the coup leaders, after a 14 days house arrest, at the presidential villa.
However, Boula, a former minister of tourism and a leader in two Tuareg ethnic insurgencies in Niger, one in the 1990s, and the other from 2007 to 2009 Coup D’état, has vouched to reinstall Bazoum.
