An Abeokuta Magistrate’s court sitting in Isabo, has sentenced a 29-year-old man, Abass Moshood, to six-month imprisonment for willfully and unlawfully damaging his landlord’s sitting-room door.
The Magistrate, Mrs I. O . Abudu, sentenced the convict, without any option of a fine, after he pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful damage.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Lawrence Balogun, had told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan, 15 at about 9: 50 am at Iwa street, Sabo area in Abeokuta.
Balogun said the convict willfully and unlawfully damaged the sitting room door valued N20, 000, and property of one Mrs Morufat Ogunsola, who is the owner of the house, and complainant.
According to the prosecutor, the convict damaged the door to gain entrance into the sitting room in order to fight the complainant’s son, with who he had a quarrel.
He explained that the convict and the complainant’s son, had a misunderstand and Moshood had threatened to beat him.
The Prosecutor stressed that the committed offence contravened section 451 of the criminal code of Ogun 2006.
