The remains of Caleb Chiemele, a tenant, were discovered in a short-let apartment on the LSDPC Estate, off Freedom Way, in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State.
According to The PUNCH, on Monday, Chiemele, who had been residing in the apartment since May 12, had not emerged from his unit by June 12.
Growing concerned, several individuals, including the apartment’s owner, Adewole Olufemi, looked through his window and found Chiemele lying motionless on the floor.
Realizing Chiemele was unresponsive, they alerted the Maroko Division police. Officers dispatched to the scene forced open the door and, upon checking his condition, discovered that he was deceased.
A source, who wished to remain anonymous due to a lack of authorization to speak to the media, stated that the body had been moved to the morgue.
“The corpse was discovered around 8 pm on June 12, 2024, at a short-let apartment on the LSDPC Estate, off Freedom Way, Lekki Phase 1. The short-let was owned by one Adewole Olufemi. He reported to the police that Caleb Chiemele had stayed in his short-let apartment since May 12, 2024.
“But around 5 pm on June 12, they noticed that Caleb had not been seen since the morning and based on that observation, they decided to peep through the windows and they saw him lying on the floor in the apartment.”

“When the policemen got to the apartment, they had to force their way in as the door was locked. They met him lying down lifeless and subsequently evacuated the corpse to the mortuary,” the source said.
On Monday, when contacted, state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the command had initiated an investigation to determine the cause of Chiemele’s death.
