The corps marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Dauda Biu, has urged Nigerians not to treat road safety issues with levity in 2023.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Biu made this known in his new year message on Sunday.
The FRSC boss asked for additional efforts to cement the successes of the previous year’s campaigns in order to restore sanity on the nation’s roads and road users’ confidence in the use of road transportation.
He urged every Nigerian to embrace the ideals of the road safety campaign in order for the country to stand out in the assessment of the success of worldwide efforts to combat road carnage.
He stated that Nigeria was a member of the United Nations that launched the global road safety campaign in 2010 and has remained involved in ensuring its success over the years.
He reassured road travelers of their safety and convenience during the new year’s celebration and return trips, and reaffirmed his commitment to employee welfare measures in the next year.
He urged motorists not to take road safety matters lightly, emphasizing that traffic accidents do not happen by chance.
