Suspected commercial motorcyclist popularly known as Okada riders have reportedly stoned a young man driving in a car to death on Wednesday night around Domkat Bali Road in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Reports revealed that the man named Fwimbe Gofwan, in his thirties, was heading home when the incident occured.
It was alleged that the young man earlier on the road had a minor ‘brush’ with a commercial motorcyclist around Tudun Wada motor park area of Jos North LGA, the incident which annoyed the riders to give him a hot chase and when they eventually caught up with him around Domkat Bali Road, they lynched in his car.
A source, who preferred anonymity said the development has created tension in the community.
He disclosed the unfortunate incident happened around 9pm, urging security operatives to enforce the ban on commercial motorcycle operation in the state.
The Plateau State government said it observed with dismay the non-compliance with the official 6am to 6pm operation period for tricycle operators and the increasing rate of activities of commercial motorcyclists, which it reiterated that, it remained banned.
The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Musa Ashoms, made this known after the State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos, on Wednesday.
The State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, had at several fora, reaffirmed that his administration was determined to bring back nightlife to Jos metropolis and ensure that lasting peace was restored to the once peaceful Tin City.
