Super Eagles winger, Chidera Ejuke, has secured a free transfer to Spanish La Liga club Sevilla.
Ejuke has been frequently on the move over the past two seasons, largely due to the Russo-Ukrainian war’s impact on his career.
Two seasons ago, the Nigerian international was loaned to Hertha Berlin. However, he struggled with fitness issues and was unable to perform at his best. The club itself faced challenges and ultimately faced relegation.
Following the end of his loan with Hertha Berlin, Ejuke moved to Belgian side Antwerp on another loan at the start of the last season.
During his time with Antwerp, the 26-year-old forward scored three goals and provided four assists in 21 Jupiler Pro matches, contributing to the club’s sixth-place finish.
Ejuke’s time with Antwerp ended at the season’s close, coinciding with the expiration of his contract with CSKA Moscow, which made him a free agent.
On Sunday, Ejuke was close to finalizing his move to Sevilla, pending a medical examination.
Sevilla has now confirmed the signing of the 26-year-old winger on a three-year deal.
With this transfer, Ejuke becomes the first Super Eagles player to join Sevilla… He will be working under former Watford coach Quique Flores Sanchez as the team aims to improve on their 14th-place finish in La Liga last season.
