Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface was involved in a car accident in Germany on Saturday night, just hours after leading his team to victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.
The 23-year-old striker had earlier scored the decisive goal in the 72nd minute, securing a 2-1 win for Leverkusen despite missing an earlier penalty.
The win was crucial for Leverkusen as they continue their strong start to the season.
Boniface, who suffered minor injuries to his hand in the accident, shared images of the damaged vehicle on his Instagram Stories, expressing gratitude for his survival.
“God said it’s not my time yet,” he wrote, reflecting on the incident.
The former Union Saint-Gilloise player is expected to recover soon, with hopes of returning to the pitch in the near future.
