The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar III, has announced that Ramadan will begin in Nigeria on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
In an official statement from his palace on Friday evening, the Sultan confirmed that the crescent moon was sighted earlier that day, marking the end of Shaban and the beginning of the Islamic holy month.
He stated that reports of moon sightings from different parts of the country were verified and approved by the council, confirming the commencement of Ramadan 1446.
The Sultan urged Muslims across Nigeria to use the sacred period for prayers, seeking divine guidance for the nation and its leaders.
He also emphasized the importance of charity and supporting those in need, ensuring that everyone can fully observe the fasting period.
With this declaration, Muslims nationwide are set to begin the 30-day spiritual journey of fasting, prayers, and devotion.
