Demola Odulaja, the estranged spouse of House of Phreedah Body Care CEO Farida Abdulkabir, also known as Farida Sobowale, has explained why he left the Lagos socialite about two months after their lavish wedding.
Odulaja claimed that the breakup had nothing to do with Sobowale’s alleged promiscuity, deception, and covetousness, among other things, in an Instagram Live chat with a Yoruba social commentator on Tuesday.
PUNCH METRO reported that Sobowale, was seen being pacified by several men with her black-coloured Sport Utility vehicle parked beside her, after she attempted to plunge into a lagoon on the Third Mainland Bridge.
She blamed her suicidal attempt on her marriage to another Lagos socialite, Demola Okulaja.
She stated, “Friends and families warned me not to go into the marriage. They told me that the man only wanted my money but I was recalcitrant.
“I am so sorry for putting my children in such a position. I would not have forgiven myself if I had abandoned them after committing suicide.
“I have forgiven my ex-husband. May God provide him with another wife,” she stated.
While reacting to allegations, Odulaja, stated that his association with Sobowale extended over a substantial span of 20 years but had become unstable owing to her “unrestrained and promiscuous way of living.”
He also recalled a time when Sobowale had concurrent intimate affairs with him and several other guys before they married.
The London-based entrepreneur also claimed that Farida frequently visited his brother, who lived nearby, and even lingered for hours without justification.
“I am extremely wealthy. I live in a 22-bedroom mansion in Gbagada.
“I am not a gigolo. I come from a wealthy home and have been flying first class long before now, people know me well in London,” he added.
Continuing, he noted, “When I got back to Nigeria from London in 2009, Farida met me in Lagos in 2010. That same year, I took her to China to start an importation business which of course yielded results and was the beginning of her travelling,” he said.
He further claimed that he had affairs with Sobowale even when she was still wed to her ex-husband, Tunde Sobowale, for whom she had three children, but remained silent over the supposed N100 million wedding that she reportedly single-handedly paid for.
