The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a stepfather, Chibuzor Benjamin, and two others, Emmanuel Okechukwu and Sunday Akpan, for allegedly defiling Benjamin’s 12-year-old stepdaughter in Ago Okota.
According to spokesperson for the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, “The suspects had been having unlawful carnal knowledge of the survivor since August 2024.”
Benjamin and Akpan confessed to the crime, while Okechukwu denied the allegation.
The case was reported by Ngozi, the girl’s aunt, who alleged that the suspects had been exploiting her niece.
Hundeyin stated, “The suspects reside on the same street as the survivor’s mother and stepfather.”
In a separate incident, 35-year-old Goodwin Femi was arrested for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl in Ibeju Lekki. Femi allegedly threatened to kill the victim if she revealed the abuse or refused to give him money.
“The suspect has been having forceful carnal knowledge of the survivor since June 2024,” Hundeyin said.
Femi admitted to the crime, revealing that the victim was his girlfriend. He was arraigned in court on Friday.
These arrests follow a string of similar cases in Lagos, highlighting the need for increased vigilance and protection for vulnerable children.
