Satellite internet provider Starlink has announced a significant increase in its monthly subscription rates, impacting both existing and new customers.
According to The PUNCH, in a message dispatched to users on Tuesday, the company revealed the updated pricing structure for its various packages.
The standard residential package will now be priced at ₦75,000, while the mobile regional, roam unlimited, package will see a new cost of ₦167,000. For those opting for the mobile global, global roam, package, the new rate will be ₦717,000.
Starlink explained that the adjustments are a response to “excessive levels of inflation,” necessitating an alignment of service fees with the current economic realities.
The company emphasized that for new customers, these price increases are effective immediately. Existing users, however, will see the new rates come into effect starting October 31, 2024.
In the communication, Starlink also reassured customers that those who choose not to continue with the service have the option to cancel at any time without facing any penalties.
This flexibility may provide some relief for customers grappling with the financial implications of the increased rates during these challenging economic times.
