Major stakeholders in the Lagos State transportation sector will today (Wednesday) hold a parley on how to address gridlock around event centres, clubs and other places of large gatherings in the state.
According to The PUNCH, the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Adebayo Taofiq, made this known in a statement on Tuesday.
He said the parley would deliberate on transportation safety at event centres, clubs, and other places of public gathering in the state.
The parley, he said, was jointly organised by LASTMA, and the Lagos State Safety Commission and would take place at the Lagos State Chamber of Commerce and Industry Conference and Exhibition Centre in Ikeja at 10 am.
The statemennt quoted the Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Transportation, Sola Giwa, as lamenting that traffic management, especially during social events, had become worrisome to major stakeholders, especially the state government.
“There is a pressing need to address the challenges surrounding traffic management around event centres, clubs, and places of gathering within the state.
“We aim to collaboratively formulate measures that will ensure smooth and efficient management of traffic while also minimising inconveniences for road users.
“Identified agenda items at the parley include a presentation of existing challenges in traffic management around event centers and places of gathering, discussions on the proposed rules and guidelines for engaging LASTMA prior to events, and training programs by LASTMA for designated staff of event centers on effective traffic management.
