English Premier League side, Southampton wrapped up two significant transfer moves involving Nigerian players, Victor Udoh and Zach Awe, before the January transfer window shut on Monday night.
The Saints have officially signed forward Udoh on a three-and-a-half-year deal, pending international clearance.
The highly-rated attacker makes the switch from Belgian Pro League club Royal Antwerp, which he joined in 2023 from Abuja-based Hypebuzz FC academy.
Udoh gained valuable experience with Antwerp’s first team, making 28 senior appearances, while also impressing for their second team with 12 goals in 21 matches last season.
He will integrate into Southampton’s squad once his international clearance is finalized.
In another move, Arsenal academy product Zach Awe has returned to Southampton following an injury setback.
The central defender was recalled from his loan stint at EFL League Two side Accrington Stanley to continue his rehabilitation.
Awe, who joined Accrington Stanley in the summer of 2024, delivered a series of standout performances, featuring in 27 matches across all competitions.
The 21-year-old also notched his first senior goal in a League Two clash against Chesterfield last November.
