Local authorities in South Korea has revealed that 22 persons have died while 14 have been left missing after a heavy flood hit several part of the country.

Over 6,400 people in the county of Goesan in the country’s centre were told to leave their homes early Saturday morning as the Goesan Dam began to overflow, flooding surrounding low-lying settlements, according to the country’s interior ministry.
The ministry has stated that a river flooded in North Gyeongsang province, washing away some of the reported missing.
According to a local news agency, Yonhap, a body was discovered in a tunnel in Cheongju, North Chungcheong province, where rescue workers were fighting to access 19 cars.
Yonhap said that flash floods raced through the neighbourhood, trapping many individuals inside their automobiles. The water level is still high, and it is unknown how many people were trapped.
The news agency predicted that the death toll would grow when local governments conducted damage assessments across the country.
The Korea Railroad Corporation announced that as of 2 p.m. (0500 GMT), all ordinary rail services across the country had been discontinued. However, KTX high-speed trains will continue to operate, albeit with possible timetable alterations.
