The Sokoto State Police Command has killed one bandit and arrested eight others for committing various offences in the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Useini Gumel, said made this known in a press release on Tuesday, accompanied by a public parade of these arrested suspects, saying that the suspects were arrested in different parts of the state.
Daily Trust reported that among the eight suspects who were paraded, were armed robbers, kidnappers, bandits and suspected car snatchers.
Together with the arrest, some recoveries were made, including: several arms, ammunition, stolen vehicles and N2.5 million paid as ransom.
The commissioner maintained that socio-economic activities across the state were thriving due to the regular raids of crime prone locations by the police and other crime prevention measures.
He, however, called on the public to support the police with credible information about criminal hideouts, assuring them that their information would be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
