In a tragic incident on Friday, a blast near a mosque in Pakistan’s Balochistan province resulted in the loss of at least six lives and left over 30 people wounded.
The explosion occurred as worshippers had gathered for a procession to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Mohammed.
Pakistan’s interior ministry confirmed the blast, attributing it to “terrorist elements.”
The ministry condemned the attack, describing it as a “heinous act” against innocent participants in the Eid Milad-ul-Nabi procession.
The number of fatalities was increasing, according to a post made by Jan Achakzai, the minister of information for Balochistan, on X.
While the majority of Islamic sects approve of the prophet’s birthday celebration, some groups see it as an unjustified innovation.
