The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Aderemi Adeoye, has assured two of its officers who were injured during a face-off with members of the Indigenous People of Biafra fighters enforcing a sit-at-home in Anambra State, that the force won’t abandon them.
According to The PUNCH, he stated this on Wednesday during a visit to the injured cops.
Recall that on Monday, a combined force of soldiers, police officers, members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and vigilantes evicted IPOB fighters from their hideouts in Anambra.
The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, stated in a Tuesday statement that five soldiers and two detectives were injured by IEDs reportedly detonated by IPOB fighters.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra,Tochukwu Ikenga reported that the Commissioner of Police paid a visit to the injured personnel with the aim of enhancing their morale.
Ikenga said, “Today, the Commissioner of Police Anambra State Command, Aderemi Adeoye, visited two police operatives, who sustained injuries on 31/7/2023 during a joint security force onslaught against insurgents in a criminal camp at Orsumoghu.
“The visit is to boost the morale of officers while discharging their duties with the assurance that their welfare is of paramount importance to the leadership of the Force.
“He made a cash donation to the officers and prayed for their quick recovery while assuring them that the police would not abandon or leave them behind.
“The CP also assured the good people of Anambra that the command is more determined than ever to flush out the miscreants in the state and make the entire state safer for law-abiding citizens to go about their lawful businesses.”
