Popular Afrobeats singer, Seun Anikulapo Kuti, better known as Seun Kuti, has strongly criticized the preachers of prosperity gospel and their followers.
The singer made this criticism in a recent online interview with Spillwithphyna, stressing that what confused him most about Christianity today is the prosperity gospel.
Kuti expressed his dissatisfaction with the gospel of prosperity, noting that some pastor hide under guise of Christianity to amass wealth with their prosperity message.
He, however, strongly criticized the followers of such clerics, adding that nobody is following what is written in the Bible any longer, they are following personalities.
Seun Kuti who is the youngest son of legendary Afrobeat godfather Fela Kuti, noted that, in the Church today, it is either you choose to believe in Jesus Christ and meet Him heaven or you use this Christian way to be rich.
“What confused me the most about Christianity today is the prosperity gospel. The gospel of prosperity… anytime all these pastors do bad things people are still supporting them.
“I understand that nobody is following the book, they are only following personalities. If Jesus Christ comes back today and say something people will still pursue him”, he said
While quoting from the the scriptures, the singer said, “Jesus the ‘oga patapata, the oga at the top’, Jesus the head of the Christian said, “It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into heaven. So, it is either you people believe in Jesus and meet Him in heaven or use this Christian way to be rich.”
