Two goals deep into added time from Tijjani Reijnders and Samuel Chukwueze propelled AC Milan to a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over a struggling Parma side at the San Siro on Sunday.
The result lifts Milan to sixth place in the table with 34 points, while Parma teeters just above the relegation zone in 17th with 20 points.
Matteo Cancellieri fired Parma ahead in the 24th minute, but Christian Pulisic leveled from the penalty spot seven minutes before halftime.
Parma regained the lead through Enrico Del Prato with only 10 minutes left on the clock, but late heroics from Reijnders and Chukwueze secured a stunning win for the Rossoneri.
Parma took advantage of Milan’s lackluster start to the game to strike first. Emanuele Valeri’s cross-field ball from the left capitalized on a slip by Theo Hernandez, allowing Cancellieri to cut inside and curl a low effort into the far corner from outside the box.
Milan initially struggled to create clear opportunities and thought they had equalized when Alvaro Morata found the net four minutes later.
However, the goal was ruled out for offside. The hosts finally drew level when Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki shoved Strahinja Pavlovic in the back during a corner, prompting a penalty.
Pulisic stepped up and slotted the ball into the bottom corner, sending Suzuki the wrong way.
Milan came close to taking the lead early in the second half. Suzuki made a fine save to deny Morata’s backheel effort, while Valeri blocked the Spaniard’s follow-up.
Moments later, Suzuki produced a fingertip save to keep out a low strike from Reijnders.
At the other end, Milan keeper Mike Maignan showed sharp reflexes to block Valentin Mihaila’s shot after rushing off his line.
Parma regained the advantage when Ismael Bennacer’s misplaced pass gifted possession to the visitors. Maignan stopped Drissa Camara’s initial attempt, but Del Prato reacted quickest to poke in the rebound, silencing the San Siro.
With just minutes remaining, Milan thought they had equalized when Pavlovic scored, only for the goal to be disallowed.
However, the drama was far from over. Reijnders latched onto a Yunus Musah pass, evaded the offside trap, and calmly slid his shot past Suzuki to bring Milan level.
Three minutes later, a Pavlovic header ricocheted off Chukwueze’s thigh and into the net, with Suzuki unable to keep it out, sealing an incredible turnaround for Milan.
