Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has praised the effective governance and development strides of the 20 Local Government Areas and their 37 Local Council Development Areas in the state.
According to The PUNCH, Sanwo-Olu made this known at the commissioning of a twin housing project in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
He said, “This is evidence that our Local Government Areas and LCDAs are working effectively well.
“We are handing over brand new housing projects to our citizens, and this is a testament to the autonomy enjoyed by our councils.”
The commissioned projects, Raymond Estate and Sterling Heights, comprise 170 units of apartments and flats, executed through a Joint Venture Partnership with a private developer.
Sanwo-Olu commended the Agboyi-Ketu council chairman, Dele Oshinowo, for showing accountability and regenerating a notorious slum into a habitable space.
Oshinowo said the housing initiative aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals to provide affordable and quality housing, and announced a digital property registry to document the LCDA’s real estate assets.
Senator Tokunbo Abiru described the projects as “the outcome of creativity and commitment” to governance at the grassroots level, boosting the local economy and contributing to the state’s socio-economic growth.
