The Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected 25-year-old serial phone thief, Chinedu Ike.
The suspect was earlier rescued from jungle justice by RRS patrol team sometime in September, 2022 in Iyana Oworo over similar offence.
But in a statement on Wednesday, the police said Ike was almost a victim of jungle justice before RRS team came to his rescue two months ago.
The suspect was nabbed after he stole a driver’s Infinix Note 10.
The statement read, “He was beaten to a coma by eyewitnesses before he was rushed to the hospital by the team. He was discharged after some days.
“On Monday, November 28, 2022, adopting his usual style, he sneaked into a parked car to steal the driver’s mobile phone in Iyana Oworo.
“He was arrested by RRS officers when those who knew Chinedu hinted the driver to check his phone. Our officers recovered the driver’s Infinix Note 10 from Chinedu’s bag. He has been sentenced.”
