Roma extended its unbeaten streak in Serie A to 10 matches with a commanding 4-0 victory over last-placed Monza on Monday, further compounding the Lombardy club’s relegation troubles.
The emphatic win will be a source of pride for Roma’s head coach, Claudio Ranieri, as his squad continues to display the league’s best form in 2025.
Since the start of the year, the team has secured 20 out of a possible 24 points, underpinned by the most formidable defense in Serie A over the same period.
Roma wasted no time asserting its dominance, breaking the deadlock in the 10th minute through Alexis Saelemaekers.
As three teammates positioned themselves for a cross, the Belgian winger opted to cut inside from the right before curling a superb shot into the far corner.
The advantage was doubled when Eldor Shomurodov found the net. Matías Soulé Malvano weaved his way through Monza’s defense before delivering a cross that allowed the Uzbek forward to head home unchallenged.
Roma continued to pile on the pressure in the second half, with Spanish fullback Angelino adding a third goal 18 minutes from time with a precise low drive.
Bryan Cristante then capped off the rout, glancing in a header from a corner just three minutes from the final whistle.
With this latest setback, Monza now finds itself three points adrift at the bottom of the Serie A standings, deepening its battle for survival.
