A 30-year-old woman identified as Abigail has been arrested by the operatives of the Rivers State Police Command on Saturday for stabbing a 12-year-old girl at Roundabout in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect reportedly left the knife in the girl’s body in the incident that happened at Rumuodara in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
The teenager, Oluebube, and the 30-year-old suspect were living in the same building.
The sister of the victim, Oluchi, while speaking with newsmen, said that the victim was stabbed after she hit the woman with water in their compound.
Oluchi revealed that Oluebebe was washing plates outside their apartment when the woman stepped out to fetch water.
“My sister, unknowingly, entered (the corridor) with the pot and ran into the woman. Both of them fell and she beat my sister.
“Other neighbours started begging the woman that it was a mistake, but the woman refused.”
Olucho said the woman later ordered Oluebebe to sweep the spilled water while she continued fetching water.
“As my sister was about sweeping, she (Abigail) came out with a knife and stabbed her. The head of the knife broke, the knife stayed in my sister’s body.”
The police were called to the scene but the suspect entered her room and tried to elope through the back door but was eventually caught.
The State Command’s Spokesman, Grace Iringe-koko while confirming the incident, said doctors had removed the knife from the teen’s body, adding that Abigail would be prosecuted.
