The House of Representatives has granted approval to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s request to amend the 2022 appropriation act.
The amendment allows the Federal Government to access N500 billion in funds dedicated to providing palliatives for Nigerians, mitigating the impact of subsidy removal.
During the Committee of Supply session, members of the House expressed their support for the President’s initiative and stressed the importance of utilizing the funds effectively for their intended purpose.
The House Leader, Julius Ihonvbare, presented the request for debate and commended President Tinubu for his commitment to addressing the needs of the citizens.
In response, Minority Leader, Kingsley Chinda emphasized the significance of responsible and responsive governance as the true measure of a government’s success.
With the approval of this request, the stage is set for the Federal Government to implement a comprehensive palliative program, providing relief to Nigerians affected by the subsidy removal.
