The government of Rivers State has urged Nigerians to pay respect to the nation’s fallen military heroes, their families, legionnaires, and active-duty military personnel.
In a statement released on Monday in Port Harcourt by a staff member, Juliana Masi, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, Secretary to the Rivers State Government, made the call.
On the occasion of Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Danagogo told the Central Planning Committee that the occasion offered all Nigerians a chance to come together in support of the troops.
“The way we appreciate the retired ones encourages those in service to continue to give their best.
“We are aware that Nigeria today needs more than the best of the military considering the security situation of the country,“ he said.
He stated that the Armed Forces Remembrance Day offered a chance for the public and the government to show their appreciation for the armed forces.
In order to make the occasion unforgettable, Danagogo urged the organizing committee members to mobilize and work diligently.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the Emblem Appeal Fund will serve as the official launch event for 2023 Remembrance Day commemorations.
Gov. Nyesom Wike will serve as the Special Guest of Honor at the event’s Rivers grand finale, which is slated for January 15, 2023.
The MDAs, security agencies, and other pertinent organizations all contribute members to the Rivers planning committee.
