Nigerian Afrobeat sensation, Divine Ikubor, famously known as Rema, is set to take the stage at the highly anticipated 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards .
The prestigious award show is scheduled to hold on November 5, 2023, at the Paris Nord Villepinte.
Rema, who has already gained recognition for his music, has garnered three EMA nominations in the categories of Best Song, Best Collaboration, and Best Afrobeats.
The organizers of the event have unveiled a star-studded lineup, which includes the talented artist performing alongside other renowned artists such as Anne-Marie, David Guetta, Manuel Turizo, Ozuna, Reneé Rapp, and Thirty Seconds to Mars.
In a statement released by the event organizers on Tuesday, they highlighted Rema’s remarkable success and growing influence on the global music scene. The statement reads, “Rema – the Afrobeats sensation, whose ‘Calm Down’ with Selena Gomez has become a soundtrack to 2023, continues to peak charts and win accolades the world over.”
Rema’s prolific year includes the release of ‘Rave & Roses Ultra’ and the fan-favorite track ‘Charm.’ Notably, he secured his first MTV Video Music Award (VMA) in the ‘Best Afrobeats’ category, a testament to his rising star power.
The artist’s triple EMA nominations, encompassing Best Song and Best Collaboration for ‘Calm Down’ with Selena Gomez, along with the Best Afrobeats category, further underline his influence and talent on the international stage.
