The Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, on Saturday, disclosed that Real Madrid star, David Alaba, is set to build a football training centre in Nigeria.
Dabiri-Erewa made the disclosure while commending the former Bayern Munich star for donating N13.3 million to curb open defecation in the OgereRemo area of Ogun State.
In December 2021, the player through the David Alaba Foundation donated N13.3 million to build the toilets.
“@David_Alaba . A big thanks for the facility donated by the David Alaba Foundation at Kara Market, Ogere Remo, Ogun State to support FGNs move to end open defecation. David is also planning a football training centre in Nigeria” she tweeted.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Water Resources, Mr Suleiman Adamu, in a statement on Friday, stressed the importance of private sector involvement in ending open defecation practice in Nigeria by 2025.
According to him, private sector and Diaspora engagement and support through accelerated provisions of toilets by philanthropy will go a long way.
