Real Madrid has officially announced the transfer of their player Rafa Marin to SSC Napoli ahead of the 2024/2025 season.
The club confirmed the agreement in a statement released via their social media and official website.
“Real Madrid C. F. and SSC Napoli have reached an agreement regarding the transfer of our player Rafa Marin,” the statement read.
“Rafa Marin joined Real Madrid in 2016 at the age of 14. He progressed through all the youth ranks of our academy and spent two seasons with Castilla.
During the 2023-2024 season, he gained experience on loan at Deportivo Alaves.
“Real Madrid wishes him and his family the best of luck in this new stage of his career,” the statement concluded.
Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano reported on the move, noting that Marin, 22, would be moving from Madrid to Naples for a fee of $13 million, €12 million, and was set to undergo a medical.
Real Madrid has included a buy-back clause in the deal, starting at $27.1 million, €25 million, if exercised in 2026.
However, if the buy-back is not activated by Madrid, the clause increases to $37.9 million, €35 million, in 2027.
Additionally, if Napoli pays an additional $10.8 million, €10 million, in 2025, these clauses double to $54.2 million, €50 million, in 2026 and $75.8 million, €70 million, in 2027.
This transfer comes as Real Madrid looks to bolster its squad, reportedly targeting Lille’s teenager Leny Yoro.
AS reports Madrid has bid around $37.8 million, €35 million, for the defender, although a French journalist tweeted that Lille has accepted a €50 million proposal from Manchester United.
