A pastor from the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Olanrewaju Agboola, has expressed his distress following a robbery at his home in the Aseese community, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State.
The thieves stole his car and other valuables worth a total of N10 million.
The PUNCH reports that the community has faced similar incidents recently.
Speaking on the incident on Saturday, Agboola detailed that the robbery occurred early Tuesday morning, with the perpetrators making off with a Toyota Highlander valued at N8 million, five computer systems each worth N300,000, and his wife’s phone valued at N200,000.
Agboola recounted, “It happened very early Tuesday morning, on the 25th of June. I wasn’t aware that anything had happened. I woke up every day around 4:30 in the morning, but that very day, I woke up around 25 minutes to 5 am. I went to the sitting room area. I put on the light and discovered my television wasn’t there. I checked the door if it was opened, but it was locked.”
“I opened the door, and saw that one of my vehicles was not there, a Toyota Highlander (with the number plate MUS399FZ), but the other vehicle was where I parked it. Then I discovered they broke in through the window and tampered with the steel. They also made away with the five computers and phones.”
A local resident, who chose to remain anonymous, confirmed that this incident was not an isolated one, noting that another pastor had also been a victim.
Responding to the robbery, Solotan Owolabi, the Divisional Police Officer of Ibafo police station, SolotanOwolabi, confirmed the incident and stated that investigations were underway to track down the culprits. He advised car owners to consider installing trackers in their vehicles.
