Paris Saint-Germain are contemplating a second €120 million bid for Nigerian attacker Victor Osimhen.
In June, the French champions’ initial offer of €100 million for Osimhen was rejected. While the new price falls short of Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis’ appraisal, it still outperforms other interested clubs’ offers.
According to reports, Napoli values Osimhen at €150 million, a price tag that no other team is willing to fulfil at the moment. De Laurentiis has discounted rival bidders such as Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid, thinking that PSG is the only team capable of affording the brilliant attacker.
“The only club that could afford Victor Osimhen is Paris Saint-Germain,” De Laurentiis revealed to Mediaset
“If (PSG president) Nasser Al Khelaifi wants to send in a bid around €200 million, we wait and see what happens. I personally think that Victor will stay here.”
Calciomercato reports ongoing negotiations between Osimhen and Napoli regarding his contract extension. The club intends to include a release clause, effective in the summer of 2024, with a value surpassing €100m.
Osimhen’s agency was informed by De Laurentiis that he would only consider offers around €200 million during the summer transfer window. Despite the impasse in the negotiations, Napoli is still committed to offering their star player a fair contract.
Bayern Munich has expressed strong interest in Osimhen, but because of Napoli’s unreasonable financial demands, they have decided to end talks. The biggest challenge facing the Azzurri right now is PSG, who have chosen the Nigerian international as the best substitute for World Cup champion Kylian Mbappé.
According to French sources, PSG is about to make an offer of about €120 million.
Osimhen scored 26 goals and contributed five assists in 32 league games last season, which were crucial in helping Napoli win the Serie A championship for the first time in more than three decades.
