Controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola, aka Portable, has been axed from the list of nominees for the 2020 Headies Awards.
The organisers cited Portable’s incessant negative attention garnered from the Nigeria Police as well as the threat to kill, harm or cause harm to fellow nominees as the reasons for his disqualification.
Punch Metro reported that Portable bagged a double nomination in the Best Street Artist and Rookie of the Year categories after he shot into the limelight with his collaboration with rapper, Olamide, and dancers Poco Lee.
The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, ordered Portable’s probe after he claimed to be the founder of two notorious cult groups terrorising Lagos State, One Million Boys and Ajah Boys.
However, in a statement released on Tuesday, the award organisers revealed that the Zazzu crooner has been disqualified from its 15th nominees’ list to further pass a strong message of not condoning reckless and uncouth statements.
