Popular Nigerian singer, Portable, has called on crossdresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, to seek divine forgiveness in light of recent controversies surrounding her.
Bobrisky was released from prison on August 5, following a sentence that began on April 12 for violating laws related to the misuse of Nigeria’s currency.
However, her legal troubles deepened when activist Martin Otse, known as ‘VeryDarkMan,’ shared an alleged audio recording in which Bobrisky reportedly claimed to have bribed Economic and Financial Crimes Commission officials with N15 million to have her charges dropped.
While Bobrisky has firmly denied these allegations, maintaining that she “served her term in prison,” the EFCC has invited both her and the activist for questioning.
The Commission’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, has also ordered an investigation into the bribery claims.
Adding to the controversy, Nigerian rapper Falz confirmed that Bobrisky once requested N3 million from him to allegedly pay officials for favorable treatment during her imprisonment, a request he said he declined.
As pressure mounts, Bobrisky took to social media to share her struggle with suicidal thoughts, emphasizing that she seeks understanding rather than sympathy.
Amidst the ongoing scandal, Portable, known for his hit single “Zazoo Zeh,” advised Bobrisky to turn to faith for redemption.
“God does not want sinners to die. Bobrisky, ask God for forgiveness, and He will redeem you,” Portable said in an Instagram post.
The singer further urged Bobrisky not to give in to suicidal thoughts but to focus on repentance, emphasizing that inner peace could be found through spiritual reflection.
“All Bobrisky needs is to ask for God’s forgiveness. If she repents, she will find peace. But if she continues in her ways, the consequences could be dire,” Portable concluded.
