The Port Harcourt Refinery has officially commenced operations, marking a significant step towards energy independence and economic growth for Nigeria.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, November 26, by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.
According to Mr. Olufemi Soneye, the company’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, the resumption of crude oil processing at the refinery represents a turning point for the country’s energy sector.
“This is a historic milestone for Nigeria as the Port Harcourt Refinery begins operations,” Soneye stated. “It signifies a new era of energy self-sufficiency and economic advancement for our nation.”
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the NNPC Board, and Group Chief Executive Officer Mele Kyari for their dedication to ensuring the project’s completion.
“This achievement reflects the unwavering commitment of the leadership to transform Nigeria’s energy landscape. Congratulations to all involved in making this a reality,” he added.
