A yet-to-be-identified policeman was captured in a viral video seeking bribe from motorists.
In a 17 seconds video posted on social media, the policeman was seen in a bus demanding bribe from motorists asking them to act fast or he will carry out his legitimate duty.
The motorists were heard pleading with the cop who insisted on collecting the bribe while calling out number suspected to be be account details.
The policeman said, “Oya do sharp sharp and go. I am telling you the fact, if not I will do my work. Oya do quick.”
Meanwhile, the location of the incident could be ascertained as the time of filing this report.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi has reacted to the incident in a post via his official X account, saying, “This is not allowed, so shameful. It’s condemned. We need more info about this. We will fish him out.”
Acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun had warned officers against corrupt tendencies in order to have acceptable image in the eyes of the public.
