The Taraba State Police Command has diclosed that its personnel would be neutral and professional during the conduct of the Local Government elections scheduled to hold on Saturday in the state.
State Command Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Usman, diclosed this while speaking with newsmen on Friday in Jalingo, the state capital.
Usman said already, men and officers have already been deployed to polling units spread across the sixteen Local Givernment Councils of the state.
He noted that policemen have also been deployed to collation centres across the local government headquarters.
He said the Commissioner of Police, on Thursday, had a briefing with all the Area Commandants, the Divisional Police Officers on how to handle the election.
The Commissioner Joseph Eribo, according to the police spokesperson, ”called on the police to behave well. He also urged them to be civil and to respect human dignity”.
Usman said the commissioner has also warned politicians to shun acts capable of causing chaos, during and after the election.
He warned politicians not to play politics of bitterness, adding that the command under his watch cannot tolerate political thuggery.
