The Zone 2 Command of the Nigeria Police Force disclosed that it has begun the trial of three men claiming to be police officers attached to Zone 2 Command captured in a viral video demanding for a tinted permit from a motorist.
Spokesperson for the Zone 2 Command, SP Ayuba T. Umma, made this known in a statement, adding that the officers involved are ASP Kenedy Ereoah, Inspector Ademiluyi Adekunle and Inspector Ayo Gbenga.
He cited that the viral video was posted by an ‘X’ user with the handle @EmmCee_RNB on January 25, 2024.
In the statement, he revealed that the officers are attached to Zonal Intelligence Bureau, Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos.
“Contrary to the claim that they were kidnappers, they were headed on official duty but acted unprofessionally,” the statement added.
The PPRO noted that the officers are presently being tried for violating the IGP’s directive on tinted permits.
“However, for the purpose of transparency, the command wishes to request the presence of the affected member of the public to contact the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer for further action,” it said.
