The Bauchi State Police Command has announced plans to enhance security patrols across the state during the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebrations to ensure the safety of residents.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the command’s spokesperson, Ahmed Wakil, conveyed the directive of Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, instructing all Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers to strengthen visibility patrols, particularly in areas prone to criminal activity.
“It is essential to send a strong message to those planning to disrupt the festivities,” Wakil stated. “They are advised to either participate peacefully, seek rehabilitation through the Police, or face legal consequences for any unlawful actions.”
He urged citizens to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or utilize the Police Rescue Me App. Emergency assistance can also be sought via the command’s helplines: 08151849417 and 09053872273.
Emphasizing the police force’s commitment to public safety, Wakil reassured residents that security measures had been reinforced to ensure a peaceful Eid celebration.
“Under the distinguished leadership of CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, the command is implementing comprehensive security strategies to maintain a conducive environment for prayer and celebrations across the state,” he said.
The police have deployed plainclothes officers for intelligence gathering, with reports being sent to a central control room to identify and address potential security threats before and during the celebrations.
The statement also extended warm greetings to the Muslim community on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, marking the conclusion of Ramadan.
“The safety of lives and property remains our highest priority,” Wakil affirmed. “We will continue to work tirelessly to protect citizens and ensure a peaceful and secure festive season.”
