The Ekiti State Police Command on Tuesday said the killing of two monarchy in the State is a suspected case of murder.
The command made this known via its X handle on Tuesday.
According to the statement necessary action is underway to fish out the perpetrators.
“Murder of two monarchs in Ikole-Ekiti : It’s a suspected case of murder. Necessary action is underway as Tactical and Intelligence teams have been deployed to that axis in order to ensure the perpetrators are arrested and brought to book”.
PunchMetro had published that two traditional rulers were on Monday killed by suspected kidnappers in Ekiti state.
The monarchs were said to be returning from a meeting in Irele-Ekiti when they were accosted and gunned down.
The traditional rulers were identified as Oba David Ogunsakin, the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti; and Oba Olatunde Olusola, the Onimojo of Omojola-Ekiti.
However, Oba Adebayo Fatoba, the Alara of Ara-Ekiti, survived the ambush.
President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday condemned the killings of two Ekiti traditional rulers; the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola.
The president also bemoaned the kidnapping of pupils and teachers around the Eporo-Ekiti area of the state as he directed security agencies to rescue the victims immediately.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday, January 30, by the special adviser to the president on media & publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
