The Police Service Commission has granted the promotion of 31 Assistant Commissioners of Police to the rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police.
This promotion comes on the heels of a similar elevation of 684 senior police officers to various ranks just two days prior.
According to The PUNCH, in a statement released on Sunday, the commission’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, detailed that the promoted officers include Godspower Origho, Area Commander of Kabba in Kogi; Abubakar Ibrahim, Coordinator of BPU in Sokoto State Command; Kabiru Ibrahim from the Department of Operations in Cross Rivers State Command; Ochiabutor Ejike from the Department of Operations in Enugu State Command; Danladi Ibrahim, Area Commander of Kafanchan; and John Ngwoye from the Department of Operations in Ondo State Command.
Additional promotions were awarded to Sulieman Salihu from the Department of Operations in Bauchi State Command; Udeme Stephen, Area Commander of Ngor Okpalla in Imo State Command; John Sendere of Liberal Studies at the Police Staff College in Jos; Aliyu Haliru from the Department of Operations in Katsina State Command; Atiku Musa of the Department of Finance and Accounts in Jigawa State Command; Adeniran Babatunde, Area Commander of Agbor in Delta State Command; and Daniel Habila, Commander Ugoniyi in Edo State Command.
Others promoted include Sulieman Toyin of SID FCT Command, Sulieman Gulma from the Force Sec Office, Aliyu Sa’ad of BPU Katsina State, Kabir Mohammed, Commandant of Police Training School in Sokoto, and Ralph Akinbisehin from the Office of the National Security Adviser, among others.
In addition to these promotions, the commission elevated 52 Chief Superintendents of Police to Assistant Commissioners of Police. Ani listed the newly promoted ACPs as Offiong Effiong, Simeon Timbomna, Edward Akaniyere, Yusuf Alhaji Bala, Ikenna Ogwu, Joshua Adewalehinmi, and Edward Weghyina of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre.
Other officers promoted to the rank of ACP include Oladele Bamidele, Ikechukwu Osuoha, Niyere Andrea Rwang, Fatimah Gimba, Olubunmi Apapa, Godwin Onah, Patrick Agbazue, Stephen Ukam, and Yusuf Abdullahi.
Furthermore, the commission approved the promotion of 505 Superintendents of Police to Chief Superintendents.
Commission Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), offered his congratulations to the newly promoted officers, stating, “The commission under his watch would build a police force that would be worthy of its name.”
