The Lagos State Police Command has initiated an investigation into a recent video showing a confrontation between a police officer and an elderly woman in the Alagbado area of Lagos State.ccording to a statement released by the command on its X handle, the altercation occurred in the first week of September 2024.
The officer involved, an Inspector, along with his supervising Deputy Superintendent of Police has been called in for questioning.
“The Command condemns the unprofessional conduct of the Inspector, as it does not reflect the ethics and standards of the Nigeria Police Force,” said the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.
The statement further noted that the Complaint Response Unit has made contact with the woman featured in the video.
Hundeyin assured the public that the investigation will be “swift, thorough, and conclusive,” with appropriate disciplinary measures to be taken against the officers involved.
The Lagos State Police Command also emphasized its commitment to keeping the public informed as the investigation progresses.
