The Enugu State Police Command has arrested two individuals suspected of armed robbery, following credible intelligence.
The State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday.
According to Ndukwe, the suspects, identified as Chima Valentine Chidiebere and Alior Jideofor Kenechukwu, were apprehended on February 6, 2025.
The arrest led to the recovery of a Daylong motorcycle, which had been forcefully taken from a victim, as well as three locally made firearms and two live cartridges.
Providing details on the case, the PPRO stated, “A preliminary investigation revealed that on January 5, 2025, the suspects boarded a commercial motorcycle from Okwojo Ngwo to Amokwe Ngwo, both in Udi LGA. Along the way, they stopped, shot the rider in the left thigh, and fled with the motorcycle.
“However, the police operatives, leveraging intelligence, located and arrested the suspects, recovering the stolen motorcycle, firearms, and the ammunition. The victim is currently recuperating from the gunshot injury.”
He further disclosed that efforts were ongoing to track down the suspects’ accomplices, assuring that once investigations are completed, those involved would be charged to court.
Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, encouraged residents to remain law-abiding and cooperate with law enforcement.
He emphasized, “The support would immensely aid the police to sustain the tempo on combating and ridding Enugu State of unrepentant criminals and their activities.”
