The Kaduna State Police Command has taken three individuals into custody for possession of illegal drugs.
Spokesperson for State Police Command, ASP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday in Kaduna.
The arrest occurred on Saturday around 8:00 p.m. after a targeted raid in response to orders from the Commissioner of Police.
ASP Hassan said, “a raid was conducted by our operatives in some identified black spots within Unguwan Mangou, Saminaka town, Lere Local Government Area.”
The suspects, identified as Ahmed Sama’ila and Nuhu Ahmadu from Lazuru village, along with Sagir Idris from Mangorori in Saminaka town, were apprehended with a range of prohibited substances.
The police spokespsrson said,, “They were found to be in possession of the following hard drugs: 114 Exol-5 tablets, 22 sachets of Diazepam tablets, three sachets of Tramadol tablets, wraps of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and one sharp knife.”
The seized drugs, including popular recreational substances such as Tramadol and Exol-5, are known to have severe effects on users and are frequently linked to addiction and mental health issues, raising concerns in the community.
Hassan emphasized that upon completing the investigation, “the three suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.”
In his statement, Hassan encouraged the public to cooperate with law enforcement by sharing timely and accurate information, underscoring the importance of community involvement in combating drug-related crimes in Kaduna State.
