The State Criminal Investigation Department of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has launched an investigation into the suspected poisoning of the Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John, who has been hospitalized for more than a week.
According to The PUNCH, this revelation was made by Josephine Adeh, the Public Relations Officer of the FCT Police Command, during a recent interview with journalists.
“The General Investigation Department of the State CID is investigating the matter, and the details of the investigation will be communicated by the FCT Command to the public soon,” Adeh said.
According to a report by The PUNCH, Ade-John, aged 60, was appointed as a minister by President Bola Tinubu in August.
He was highlighted as one of the few cabinet members chosen from beyond the established political circle.
However, he has been sent to a hospital in Abuja due to suspected acute poisoning of unknown origin.
Family sources with knowledge of the situation revealed that Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John, was urgently admitted to the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi.
She was rushed to the medical facility shortly after showing symptoms indicative of poisoning.
While the precise substance she may have ingested and the circumstances surrounding it remain unclear, Ade-John, a career banker and tech investor, has reportedly been placed on a machine to assist with her breathing.
Despite attempts to gather further information, officials at the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi have not responded to calls and text messages from journalists.
