The Kwara State Police Command has charged three former police officers with criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide following the death of Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola.
The dismissed officers Abiodun Kayode, James Emmanuel, and Oni Philip were arraigned in court on October 16, 2024, and have since been remanded in prison custody pending further court proceedings.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the officers were relieved of their duties before being formally charged.
“The three dismissed officers have been charged to court on two counts: criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide. They are now in prison custody, awaiting further legal actions,” Ejire-Adeyemi stated.
The charges stem from an investigation into Ishola’s death, which led to the officers’ dismissal and subsequent legal proceedings. The police have assured the public of their commitment to ensuring justice is served.
