Barely five days after Boko Haram killed 10 persons in a pub in Geidam, an explosive improvised device explosion has killed one person and injured seven others in another drinking joint in Gashua, headquarters of Bade Local Government Area of Yobe State.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the injured persons were receiving treatment at the Specialist Hospital, Gashua.
The explosion occurred on Sunday around 7.20pm at Abasha Gidan Amarya drinking joint, where a blast was heard, which threw residents of the town into pandemonium.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Dungus Abdulkareem, confirmed the incident.
He said, “It looks like a coordinated attack targeted at a drinking joint. Our EOD detectives are at the scene to find out what type of explosion and the cause of the explosion.
“One person is confirmed dead with seven others as casualties. More details will come up after the investigation.”
