Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two more suspects linked to the abduction of Mrs. Folasade Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.
The suspects, identified as 27-year-old Agbojule Smart and 30-year-old Keleke Michael, were apprehended by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Special Squad in the early hours of Friday, January 24, 2025, while attempting to leave Lagos State.
Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued from Force Headquarters in Abuja.
“Following the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to pursue the fleeing suspects connected to the abduction of Mrs. Odumosu, operatives of the Lagos State CP Special Squad have arrested two suspects.
They are part of a four-member gang, two of whom had already been neutralized during previous operations,” Adejobi revealed.
He disclosed that items recovered from the suspects included ₦2.25 million, believed to be part of the ransom paid, two locally fabricated rifles, and 11 live cartridges.
“The suspects confessed to their crime during interrogation and admitted their roles in the abduction,” he added.
Inspector-General Egbetokun praised the officers for their bravery, saying, “This achievement highlights the unwavering dedication of the force in combating crime. The police will continue to set a high standard in ensuring public safety across the country.”
The abduction occurred on January 16, 2024, when four masked gunmen stormed Mrs. Odumosu’s residence in Arepo, Ogun State.
Less than a week later, she was rescued during an operation in the swampy area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, following a gun battle with her captors.
