The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has apprehended two individuals linked to a burglary in Eket Local Government Area, recovering stolen items worth millions of naira.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, disclosed that the suspects, identified as Moses Godwill Ndiong and Abraham Udo, were arrested on Monday, January 20, 2025, around 4:00 PM, following a tip-off from a vigilant resident about a burglary in Okpokpong, Eket.
“Following credible intelligence from a concerned citizen, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command apprehended two suspects, Moses Godwill Ndiong and Abraham Udo, in connection with a burglary that occurred on January 20, 2025, at approximately 0400 hours,” DSP John revealed.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, immediately deployed officers to the location upon receiving the report.
The swift response led to the arrest of the suspects, who admitted their involvement during questioning.
The police recovered several items from the suspects, including burglary tools, electronics, and a vehicle.
“Recovered from the suspects were a 65-inch LG Smart TV, a 2900 SUMEC Generator, a 42-inch LG LED TV, a 32-inch LG LED TV, a Sony Home Theatre System, a Toyota Camry with registration number KY984EKY, six pairs of shoes, and electrical cables,” DSP John stated.
While investigations are ongoing, DSP John commended the citizen whose timely report facilitated the arrests. “We applaud the vigilance of the individual who reported this incident. Their action was pivotal in ensuring the suspects were swiftly apprehended,” he said.
