The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended three individuals for allegedly vandalizing and stealing electrical transformer cables in Wuro Dole, Girei Local Government Area.
According to The PUNCH, the police spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Monday in Yola, explaining that a tip-off from a reliable source led to the suspects’ capture.
The arrested individuals—Rabiu Ali (28), Muhammad Musa (42), and Abubakar Usman (18)—were allegedly part of a larger group that conspired to steal the cables supplying electricity to parts of Girei. Three other accomplices are still at large.
According to the police, the suspects damaged the transformer and removed armoured cables with the intention of profiting from the theft.
The case has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiries, and the arrested suspects will face prosecution once investigations are concluded.
Commissioner of Police CP Dankombo Morris praised the Girei Divisional Police Officer and his team for their swift response.
He also instructed the Deputy Commissioner of CID to intensify efforts to track down the fleeing suspects.
Morris urged residents to remain alert and promptly report any suspicious activities around electrical transformers to prevent further incidents.
