The Edo State Police Command has apprehended a 57-year-old man, Edokpa Patrick, in Ugomonson community for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
The suspect was found with an unlicensed single-barrel gun and 172 live cartridges, following a police operation based on intelligence reports.
The command’s spokesperson, Moses Yamu, disclosed the arrest in a statement on Monday.
“The suspect was arrested with one unlicensed single-barrel gun and 172 live cartridges,” Yamu stated.
“During interrogation, he claimed to be a member of the vigilante group, but admitted to being involved in the sale of live cartridges.”
